Job summary

4Recruitment Services are seeking a Personal Advisor to join the Leaving Care Team in Peterborough. The role focuses on building positive relationships with care-experienced young people, supporting their transition to adulthood, and coordinating services in line with national legislation and local policies.

You will assess needs, plan interventions, manage a caseload, and attend reviews to ensure young people receive appropriate support.

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable young people aged 16–25.
• NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
• Knowledge of safeguarding and relevant legislation (Children Act 1989/2004, Leaving Care Act 2000).
• DBS enhanced clearance is expected.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with partner organisations to assess, plan and support care leavers and their families.
• Manage a caseload of care-leavers in line with policies and regulations.
• Attend and contribute to reviews and meetings for each young person.
• Assess needs and deliver targeted interventions and pathway planning.
• Visit young people in homes or other venues as required.

4Recruitment Services are seeking a Personal Advisor - Leaving Care Team in Peterborough.

Purpose of the role:
To build positive and productive relationships with care-experienced young people to support them through their transition to adulthood and greater independence.
To support young people to navigate complex individual situations, through assessment, planning, intervention, and the co-ordination of services in accordance with national Children and Care Leavers legislation, regulations, guidance and local policies and procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• To work collaboratively with a range of partner organisations to assess, plan and support care leavers and their families.
• To manage a caseload of individual young people in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and relevant legislation, guidance and regulations.
• To attend and contribute to reviews and participate in meetings, wherever a young person is living
• To assess need and deliver support and programmes of intervention to a diverse group of young people leaving care in line with Departmental standards
• To assess financial needs of care leavers and assist them in planning their individual budgets for accommodation and maintenance.
• To undertake visits, complete assessments and reviews, maintain records in accordance with policy and procedures
• To be responsible for planning and recording Pathway Planning meeting where required.
• To visit young people at home and other external venues in accordance with standards, policy and procedures

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience working with vulnerable young people aged 16 - 25
• Relevant qualification NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
• Knowledge and understanding of human growth and development and the particular issues relating to young people living in care
• Relevant legislation, guidance including Children Act 1989,2004, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 Regulations and Guidance.
• Ability to manage and develop effective strategies when working with young people presenting challenging behaviour.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a range of people including young people and their families, service providers, colleagues and managers.
• Enhanced DBS
