Job summary

4Recruitment Services Ltd are seeking a Personal Advisor to support care-experienced young people aged 16-25 in Peterborough as they transition to adulthood. The role involves holistic assessment, planning and coordinating services to improve outcomes.

You will work with partner organisations, contribute to reviews, and maintain records in line with safeguarding practices and local policies.

Qualifications

• Experience working with vulnerable young people aged 16-25.
• Knowledge of human growth and development and issues facing care leavers.
• Knowledge of Children Act 1989, 2004 and Leaving Care Act 2000 regulations and guidance.
• Enhanced DBS clearance.
• Ability to manage challenging behaviour and develop effective strategies.
• Strong interpersonal skills with young people, families, service providers and colleagues.

Responsibilities

• Collaborate with partner organisations to assess, plan and support care leavers and their families.
• Manage a caseload of individual young people in line with departmental policies and relevant legislation.
• Attend and contribute to reviews and meetings for each young person’s living arrangements.
• Assess needs and deliver support and intervention programmes for leaving care.
• Assess financial needs and assist with budgets for accommodation and maintenance.
• Visit and conduct assessments, reviews, and maintain records per policy.
• Plan and record Pathway Planning meetings when required.
• Visit young people at home and other external venues as needed.

4Recruitment Services are seeking a Personal Advisor - Leaving Care Team in Peterborough.

Purpose of the role:

To build positive and productive relationships with care-experienced young people to support them through their transition to adulthood and greater independence.

To support young people to navigate complex individual situations, through assessment, planning, intervention, and the co-ordination of services in accordance with national Children and Care Leavers legislation, regulations, guidance and local policies and procedures.

DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE:

• To work collaboratively with a range of partner organisations to assess, plan and support care leavers and their families.
• To manage a caseload of individual young people in accordance with departmental policies and procedures and relevant legislation, guidance and regulations.
• To attend and contribute to reviews and participate in meetings, wherever a young person is living
• To assess need and deliver support and programmes of intervention to a diverse group of young people leaving care in line with Departmental standards
• To assess financial needs of care leavers and assist them in planning their individual budgets for accommodation and maintenance.
• To undertake visits, complete assessments and reviews, maintain records in accordance with policy and procedures
• To be responsible for planning and recording Pathway Planning meeting where required.
• To visit young people at home and other external venues in accordance with standards, policy and procedures

ESSENTIAL REQUIREMENTS:

• Experience working with vulnerable young people aged 16 - 25
• Relevant qualification NVQ level 3 or equivalent.
• Knowledge and understanding of human growth and development and the particular issues relating to young people living in care
• Relevant legislation, guidance including Children Act 1989,2004, Children (Leaving Care) Act 2000 Regulations and Guidance.
• Ability to manage and develop effective strategies when working with young people presenting challenging behaviour.
• Strong interpersonal skills with a range of people including young people and their families, service providers, colleagues and managers.
