Job summary

Smile Education is partnering with a welcoming school in Walsall to recruit a passionate SENDCO. The role leads the school's SEND provision, identifying and monitoring pupils with additional needs and developing effective interventions.

The successful candidate will collaborate with staff, parents and external agencies to ensure every pupil receives necessary support. This permanent, full-time post requires QTS and SEND leadership experience, with the National Award for SEN Coordination

Qualifications

• Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) required.
• Experience as SENDCO or in a SEND leadership role.
• National Award for SEN Coordination preferred or willingness to complete.
• Strong knowledge of the SEND Code of Practice and current legislation.
• Strong leadership, communication and organisational skills.
• Passion for improving outcomes for children with additional needs.

Responsibilities

• Lead and manage the school's SEND provision.
• Identify, assess and monitor pupils with additional needs.
• Develop and implement effective SEND strategies and interventions.
• Work closely with teaching staff to ensure high-quality inclusive practice.
• Liaise with parents, carers, local authorities and external professionals.
• Ensure the school meets all statutory SEND responsibilities.
• Support and develop colleagues through advice, guidance and training.
