Job summary

Fortius is seeking a Bank Theatre Practitioner – Anaesthetics & Recovery to provide high-quality perioperative care focused on anaesthetics with occasional recovery duties. You will join the theatre team to support safe, efficient running of lists and a positive patient experience across the perioperative pathway.

The role emphasizes accountability under NMC/HCPC, clinical governance, and involvement in audits, service improvement and education as part of continuous professional development.

Qualifications

• Registered Practitioner with NMC or HCPC (ODP or Nurse).
• Post‑qualification operating theatre experience required.
• Experience in anaesthetics and recovery with ongoing skill maintenance.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and communicate clearly.
• Competent IT skills including Microsoft Office and EPR systems.
• Evidence of continuous professional development and ILS certification.

Responsibilities

• Deliver safe perioperative care across anaesthetics and recovery, with rotation or service-led allocation.
• Assist anaesthetic procedures including airway management, monitoring and emergencies.
• Provide high-quality post-anaesthetic care and discharge in line with criteria.
• Participate in perioperative pathway planning, delivery, and evaluation.
• Escalate changes in patient condition as required.
• Collaborate with theatre team to ensure safe patient flow.
• Support senior staff in coordinating theatre activity.
• Induct and support junior staff and students; engage in CPD.
