Job summary

South West London and St George's Mental Health NHS Trust is seeking an experienced psychologist to join the parent-infant psychotherapy sub-team within the specialist community perinatal mental health service. The role focuses on assessment and treatment of parents and infants with moderate to severe difficulties, managing a caseload with safeguarding responsibilities.

Professional registration is essential.

Qualifications

• Experience in assessing parent-infant relationships and implementing treatment plans.
• Familiar with NICE guidance on infant mental health and its application.
• Ability to communicate complex clinical information to families and professionals, and to assess and manage risk.

Responsibilities

• Provide specialist psychotherapeutic assessments of parent-infant dyads.
• Formulate and implement psychotherapeutic treatment plans for parent-infant difficulties.
• Hold autonomous responsibility for a caseload of parents and infants with complex problems.
• Undertake risk assessment and management for parents and babies, including safeguarding duties.
• Deliver psychotherapeutic interventions across MDTs and adjust formulations as needed.
• Contribute to care planning and handover following discharge from the perinatal team.
• Provide expert consultation and training to other professionals involved in the family's care.
