Greater Manchester Mental Health Foundation Trust is seeking a Band 7 mental health professional for a 10-month secondment in Manchester. The role leads a growing team to ensure safe delivery of care to women and birthing people in the perinatal period, working with complex cases across the perinatal pathway.

The post involves clinical leadership, supervising nursing and MDT staff, managing a complex caseload, and serving as a duty assessor within the Specialist Perinatal Service.

Job overview

Management of a growing team of practitioners in ensuring the safe delivery of care and support to women and birthing people in the perinatal period.

The Outreach Team works with the people within this cohort who have more complex needs, for example being nursed on an acute mental health ward or admitted to maternity whilst struggling with their mental health.

Main duties of the job
  • 1. Provide clinical leadership, supervision, support, and consultation to nursing staff
    and MDT staff in the Specialist Perinatal Service, in line with relevant clinical
    pathways as outlined within the operational procedures.
  • 2. Manage and evaluate a caseload in line with relevant clinical pathway as
    outlined within the operational procedure and will include:
    • Assessment
    • Formulation
    • Therapeutic intervention as required
    • Signposting
    • Close working with all colleagues
    • To be responsible for a complex caseload
  • 3. Act as a duty assessor
