An exciting opportunity has arisen for an enthusiastic Performance Manager to join our People and Change team within the Performance & Planning Team.

Northern Powergrid, responsible for powering 8 million customers across 3.9 million homes and businesses in the North East, Yorkshire, and northern Lincolnshire, is at the forefront of delivering a power network that meets the region’s needs now and in the future.

The Performance & Planning team provides insight, analytics, and reporting across the business, with this role focusing on our corporate and regulatory reporting commitments to customers, regulators, and shareholders. This role offers the opportunity to be part of the energy industry at an exciting time as we transition to Net Zero and enter a new regulatory period. It involves close collaboration with all business areas and strong relationships with regulatory partners.

We seek a candidate with a strong analytical and numerical background capable of producing high-quality written and graphical work. The candidate should be able to work effectively within a team, including with external providers, and confidently lead and manage large deliverables independently. As the most senior team member, this role will support the P&P lead through delegations and team development.

Along with a competitive salary of £50,000 - £60,000, we offer benefits such as:

  • 25 days holiday plus bank holidays (up to 28 days after 5 years of service)

Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  • Management, production, and publication of key regulatory reports, including the Strategic Commentary and Business Plan Commitments Report.
  • Conducting in-depth sector analysis and benchmarking to inform decision-making.
  • Leading performance reporting and representing the business with regulatory and stakeholder groups.
  • Monitoring and forecasting incentives and non-financial performance to support decision makers in maximizing outcomes.
  • Mentoring and supporting the professional development of Performance & Planning analysts.
  • Deputising for the Performance & Planning Lead when needed.
  • Maintaining high standards in external regulatory reporting and stakeholder engagement.
  • Delivering high-quality, stakeholder-led analytics.
  • Managing relationships with multiple directorates, external providers, and senior stakeholders.
  • Transforming data into meaningful insights and effectively communicating findings to diverse audiences.
  • Managing your own and others' time efficiently to meet regulatory reporting deadlines.
  • Supporting team development and career progression as deputy to the Performance & Planning Lead.

Qualifications and Attributes

Essential Qualifications and Experience

  • Ability to convert data into actionable insights, demonstrating storytelling and performance assessment skills, including experience with dissertations or similar projects.
  • Strong analytical skills with data retrieval and manipulation capabilities.
  • Advanced proficiency in Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Desirable Qualifications and Experience

  • A degree or equivalent in a relevant field.
  • Experience in business performance reporting.
