Manchester City Council is seeking a specialist Public Health Knowledge and Intelligence professional to support the organisation and external stakeholders within the Knowledge and Intelligence Team of the Department of Public Health.
You will lead data analysis, develop tools, and provide intelligence outputs to inform strategic decisions. The role sits in a collaborative environment with a focus on health inequalities, health equity, and delivering the council’s strategic objectives.
Working Hours: 35 Hours Per Week
Contract Type: Permanent, Full-Time
Working Style: Hybrid - Employees split their time between working remotely (e.g., from home) and working on-site (e.g., in an office).

The Department of Public Health is responsible for delivering Manchester City Council’s statutory responsibilities in respect of the commissioning of a range of public health services. This includes sexual health, weight management, oral health, health visiting, school nursing and addiction services.
This role provides specialist Public Health Knowledge and Intelligence support to the organisation and external stakeholders. It will sit within the Knowledge and Intelligence Team within the Department of Public Health, reporting to the Strategic Performance and Insight Lead.

The role holder will have the ability to analyse and interpret complex data in order to produce intelligence output in line with customers’ requirements and actively collaborate across the wider analytical community to test and challenge. They will be able to specify and apply appropriate analytical techniques.
They will be able to deliver future-proofed yet flexible data and analytic approaches; documenting processes, testing / reviewing solutions and embedding automation wherever possible. They will be confident in using IT solutions to achieve research and data objectives.
The role holder will be expected to develop, manage and successfully deliver complex work packages to support the delivery of the Department of Public Health’s strategic objectives. They will be required to work effectively with a range of senior internal and external stakeholders and embrace the principle of joint working. They will work with the Strategic Performance and Insight Lead to identify and support the prioritised deployment of resources to provide reliable information and support to managers and decision makers.
The role holder will provide effective project management and oversight interpreting strategic vision (e.g. Making Manchester Fairer, Our Manchester Strategy and the Corporate Plan). They will have a good understanding of the context of their thematic area. The role holder will understand the importance of evidence led decision making.
