Job summary

Darlington Borough Council is seeking a Performance Analyst and Power BI Technical Lead for maternity cover on a fixed-term basis up to one year. The role focuses on maintaining and troubleshooting Power BI semantic models, reports, dataflows, and workspaces, with advisory duties across the Council.

You will lead the Power BI User Group, provide training, and collaborate with ICT to manage risks and improve access to Power BI and Fabric.

Qualifications

• Experience in Power BI, data modelling and dashboard development.
• Ability to design reports and semantic models for a council environment.
• Familiarity with Power BI Service, dataflows and workspace management.

We are looking for an experienced and enthusiastic Performance Analyst and Power BI Technical Lead to join Darlington Borough Council to provide maternity cover on a fixed term basis for up to one year.

You will provide specialist Power BI advice and technical support across the Council, helping colleagues make effective use of data. The role will focus particularly on maintaining and troubleshooting existing Power BI semantic models, reports, dataflows and workspaces.

You will:

• advise users on Power Query, data modelling, M query, DAX, report design and Power BI Service;
• maintain important dashboards and centralised dataflows;
• support refresh schedules, workspace access and technical problem-solving;
• lead the Council's Power BI User Group and provide bespoke guidance and training;
• keep users informed about relevant developments in Power BI and Microsoft Fabric;
• work with ICT colleagues to manage risks and improve access to Power BI and Fabric; and
• maintain and troubleshoot the Council's Report Management System, which uses Power Apps, Power Automate and Dataverse.

You will have the freedom to use your initiative, identify opportunities for improvement and find creative technical solutions that meet the needs of different services.
