Are you passionate about people, process, and developing early careers? We're looking for a motivated and experienced People Services Team Leader to lead our Apprenticeships and Learning administration function. This is a fantastic opportunity to shape how we support early talent at Mears, while guiding a small but growing team through continuous improvement and meaningful impact.

About the Role:

You’ll be leading a specialist team within our central People Services function, focused on delivering an exceptional experience for apprentices and learners. With responsibility for apprenticeship administration, college partnerships, and colleague support, you’ll play a key role in helping new talent thrive at Mears.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the end-to-end apprenticeship administration process, from sign-up to completion
  • Build strong relationships with colleges and training providers
  • Conduct and attend quarterly reviews with colleges to ensure learner progress and success
  • Provide outreach and support to mentors and line managers to monitor and support apprentice development
  • Triage and resolve apprentice-related issues or concerns in a timely, supportive manner
  • Act as the key point of contact for all apprenticeship queries, both internally and externally
  • Manage and support the performance and development of your team
  • Deliver a high-quality, consistent administrative service across the employee lifecycle
  • Drive continuous improvement and systems-led change using tools like Workday and ServiceNow
  • Collaborate across departments (HR, Payroll, Talent Acquisition & IT) to enhance service efficiency
  • Monitor data accuracy, compliance and ensure timely reporting
  • Create and share user-friendly HR templates, policies and guidance
  • Champion inclusive, accessible services that put the colleague experience at the centre

Role Criteria:

  • Experience in a learning or apprenticeship administration environment
  • Confident in communicating with stakeholders at all levels, including colleges and managers
  • Strong organisational skills and ability to juggle multiple priorities
  • Proficiency with digital systems and confidence in data accuracy and process improvement
  • A-levels, BTEC or equivalent experience in business/management
  • Willingness to study or already hold CIPD or learning-related qualifications

It would be advantageous to have:

  • Experience in leading or supervising a team
  • Knowledge of apprenticeship funding, compliance, and programme structures
  • Previous use of HR systems like Workday or ServiceNow
