Student Loans Company is a non-profit making Government owned organisation to provide loans and grants to students in universities and colleges in the UK. Since 1989, we have enabled our customers to invest in their futures by delivering secure, accurate and efficient assessment, payment and repayment services.
Culture is at the hear of everything we do at SLC and we are guided by our five values which help make SLC a great place to work:
These values are more than words - they guide our decisions, shape our collaborations, and strengthen our impact on the students we serve.
As a People Policy Advisor, you'll help shape the policies, guidance and knowledge resources that underpin the colleague and manager experience across SLC, ensuring they remain relevant, accessible and aligned to the needs of a changing organisation. Working with a high degree of autonomy, you'll take ownership of reviewing, developing and refining people policies, drawing on employment legislation, emerging best practice and organisational priorities to inform your recommendations.
Working closely with stakeholders across the business, you'll contribute to how people policy supports strategic objectives, legislative change and the consistent application of people practices. You'll be confident operating independently, building relationships and using your judgement to identify opportunities for policy improvement while balancing business needs, colleague experience and compliance requirements. You'll also play an important role in helping managers understand and apply people policies effectively, ensuring they have the guidance, resources and confidence needed to make informed people decisions and deliver a consistent colleague experience.
A key focus of the role will be driving improvements in the colleague and manager experience through the development of modern, accessible and digitally enabled policy and knowledge resources. You'll help identify innovative ways to provide clear, reliable information, making it easier for colleagues and managers to access the guidance they need, when they need it. Through consultation, insight and relationship building, you'll influence how policies evolve and contribute to a more inclusive and user-focused approach to people policy. This includes supporting the development of practical guidance, learning resources and knowledge content that build capability, improve colleague and manager understanding, and enable greater self-service across the organisation.
This is an excellent opportunity for someone with a genuine interest in employment law, people policy and organisational change who enjoys taking ownership of their work and can quickly become a trusted advisor within a varied stakeholder environment. You'll have the scope to make a visible impact on how colleagues and managers experience and engage with people policies across SLC while contributing to a significant programme of organisational change
Please note that this role is offered on a 12 month fixed term basis.
You can expect more from a career with SLC. We support colleagues to unlock their potential through our Career Pathways development programme and offer an excellent benefit and rewards package that includes:
We'll need you to confirm that you have the right to work in the UK. If we offer you a job and you accept, there are some background checks we need to complete before you can start with us. This will include employment history, criminal record check, credit reference check and fraud check.
