National Grid is at the forefront of the energy transition to Net Zero in the UK. We need to deliver on more infrastructure development projects in the next 10 years than ever before and fundamentally change the way our grid works to achieve our Net Zero ambitions.

The Strategic Infrastructure (SI) business unit was set upto deliver new major projects in the UK, as well as other strategic projects that will help us deliver on ournet zero ambitions and help the UK government meet its target of 50GW of renewable energy by 2030.

We are currently recruiting for a People Partner to support the wider SI People Team and CPO on other related people projects and activities across the Business Unit and function.

The focus of this role will be to support our offshore delivery and commercial leadership teams across SI. You will lead all HR activities including talent management, DEI , leadership development and query management.

Within the role you will also support with developing tailored people strategies and implementing targeted interventions relating to recruitment, retention and reward, among other activities.

We require a flexible approach to work with the ability to travel to other offices/sites.

Key Accountabilities
  • Working with the People team and business to develop and deliver an appropriate people plan (as a sub-section of the overall people strategy/ priorities) for their business areas
  • Provide high quality, risk-based advice for all levels of management within the business area for all matters related to the management of employees, acting as a trusted advisor tobuild a reputation as a credible, professional and flexible HR professional.
  • Developing and delivering the strategic HR priorities to ensure that there is alignment between HR and business strategy and to work in partnership with the leadership team of the assigned business areas to ensure delivery of the plan, including tracking of progress.
  • Take the lead on keyprojects and activities (e.g.DEI, Talent Management and Performance Management.)
  • Shape, implement and maintain career frameworks for critical capabilities across your client groups
  • Working closely with ER specialists to ensure compliance with policies and procedures
  • Work within the established TU frameworks to ensure issues are raised and addressed in a timely manner, representing the business unit on established groups and forums as required
  • Supporting the delivery of key HR processes
  • Partner in order to provide tailored, best practice solutions to business problems, proactively seeking opportunities to build their knowledge of their customer’s business andrequirements in order to provide tailored ‘fit for purpose’ advice.
  • Through data analysis, analyse key themes, trends (internal and external) and performance metrics in order to identify howdifferent scenarios may impact on the business and make recommendations for moving forward.
  • Manage and facilitate organizational design and ongoing org and team visioning, and team building that support change and growth.
  • Support the wider People Team on other related people projects and activities across the Business unit & Function .
About you
  • CIPD qualified (preferably at level 5 or above)
  • Demonstrable experience providing professional, risk and evidence -based advice, tailored to the needs of the business, ideally within a large utility sector organisation.
  • Broad knowledge and experience across the full spectrum of HR activities including strategic HR planning, talent, development & succession planning, DEI, ER, organisation design/development to provide a rounded service to the business area.
  • Strong influencing and communication skills in order to build strong relationships at all levels of the organisation and with a broad range of stakeholders.
  • Experience of partnering with Senior Managers to drive the full scope of the talent agenda - including succession planning, and drive the subsequent development actions
  • A motivated self-starter with the ability to adapt to different business needs and having the mindset of continuous improvement
  • Be emotionally intelligent, with a number of courageous conversations under your belt to draw on when coaching and influencing others
  • Ability to analyse data and provide insights to support strategic direction of the business
  • Analyse complex situations and make well-considered decisions quickly and confidently, demonstrating commercial drive and acumen
  • Demonstrates the ability to understand the connections between the business and relevant research or information.
  • Able to challenge constructively and influence for positive people outcomes and to uphold Company Values.
  • Confident with large volumes of data and comfortable working in highly confidential environments
What you'll get

A competitive salary between £46,415.00 - £54,703.50 – dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receivea bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%.
