Job description

Southern Water is seeking a People Partner to join our dynamic People Team. Reporting to the Senior People Partner, this role serves as the primary contact between the business and HR, proactively partnering with senior management to drive positive change and ensure alignment with business and HR strategies. The role also involves acting as a trusted strategic partner on business change and transformation projects.

Accountabilities
  1. Business Partnership:
    • Implement the People Plan and strategy for the business area, prioritizing focus areas aligned with business strategy.
    • Provide expertise on organizational design.
    • Support strategic change programmes, ensuring effective communication and stakeholder management, including collaboration with Employee Voice representatives and Unison.
    • Assist business leaders in driving engagement through proactive initiatives.
    • Support complex employee relations cases when required.
  2. Partnership with Centres of Excellence:
    • Work with Talent and Development to promote a performance and development culture through succession planning and talent reviews.
    • Collaborate with Reward to support job evaluation, benchmarking, and strategic reward planning.
    • Partner with Recruitment to support talent attraction and retention strategies.
  3. Continuous Improvement: Identify and implement ideas to enhance ways of working.
  4. Skills and Qualities:
    • Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail, capable of managing multiple priorities.
    • Confident, professional, and engaging demeanor with the ability to manage various considerations in projects.
    • Proven ability to build authentic relationships across all levels of the organization, including senior management.
    • Empathic, resilient communication style, capable of handling challenges robustly.
    • Humility and the ability to see things from others' perspectives.
    • Excellent communication and planning skills, with a track record of trust-based relationship building.
Knowledge
  • Proven experience in a fast-paced, complex People Partner role within a dynamic organization.
  • Experience leading organizational change projects, including restructures and TUPE.
  • Strong employment law knowledge and current HR practices.
Qualifications
  • Degree qualification or equivalent experience.
