Job description

About the role

Help us shape every employee experience.

At National Grid Electricity Distribution (NGED), we keep over 8 million people connected to the power they rely on every day across the Midlands, the South West and South Wales. As we transition to a cleaner, fairer and more affordable energy future, our people remain at the heart of everything we do.

We're looking for a People Coordinator to join our People Services team on a 12 month contract.

This is a fantastic opportunity to play a key role in delivering an exceptional employee experience, supporting colleagues and candidates throughout every stage of the employee lifecycle.

The role is hybrid with our base office located in either Bristol or Castle Donington.

What you'll do

As a People Coordinator, you'll provide high-quality administrative and operational support across onboarding, lifecycle activity and employee services. You'll work closely with candidates, employees, managers and People colleagues to ensure a seamless and positive experience from joining the business through to leaving.

Key responsibilities include:

  • Managing end-to-end onboarding activities for new starters, ensuring all pre-employment checks are completed efficiently and in line with company policy.
  • Processing right to work checks, references, qualification verification, medical assessments and security clearances.
  • Issuing contracts of employment and supporting candidates throughout the onboarding journey.
  • Acting as a trusted point of contact for candidates and hiring managers, providing advice and guidance on processes and best practice.
  • Managing workflows through our applicant tracking system and producing reports to effectively prioritise workload and meet service-level agreements.
  • Supporting a range of employee lifecycle activities, including internal moves, promotions, secondments and family leave processes.
  • Responding to employee and manager queries via our ticketing system, delivering a professional, knowledgeable and customer-focused service.
  • Working collaboratively with the wider People team to continuously enhance the employee experience.
What you'll need

We're looking for someone who is highly organised, proactive and passionate about delivering excellent service.

You'll also have:

  • Experience working within a busy HR, People Services or administrative environment.
  • Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple priorities and meet deadlines.
  • Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.
  • A customer-focused approach with strong attention to detail.
  • Experience using applicant tracking systems (ATS) and ticketing systems.
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office applications.
  • The ability to work independently while contributing positively within a team environment.
  • Flexibility to travel occasionally between locations when required.
What you'll get

A competitive salary between £36,343.00 - £39,549.00 per annum - dependent on capability.

As well as your base salary, you will receive a bonus based on personal and company performance and a competitive contributory pension scheme where we will double match your contribution to a maximum company contribution of 12%. You will also have access to a number of flexible benefits such as a share incentive plan, salary sacrifice car and technology schemes, support via employee assistance lines and matched charity giving to name a few.
