Our Role
Forming an integral part of the People Partnership Team, this role will be responsible for providing generalist HR support and advice in all aspects of people management to The White Company Stores and business partners. The role will be responsible for building strong business relationships and driving ‘People Partnership’ across Retail, partnering with Area Managers to influence better people-focused business decisions. While primarily supporting Retail stores, there will also be advisory duties supporting Retail, Head Office, and Contact Centre colleagues. The role offers opportunities to work on specific projects within the wider People Team and to take ownership of key business priorities.
Please be aware this role is a 4-month FTC to cover maternity leave that requires an immediate start.
What you’ll be doing
People Partnership
- Act as a first point of contact, providing generalist HR support to Store Managers and Area Managers, advising on all elements of people management.
- Build sustainable, strong business relationships with key stakeholders across the Retail estate.
- Provide a swift and responsive HR service to managers and employees on a wide range of queries.
- Build strong relationships with other People Advisors to ensure consistent advice across the team.
- Support the Retail ‘People Plan’, aligned with the department strategy.
- Present relevant and timely updates to the People Partnership Manager and key business partners.
- Coach and train business partners to manage their teams effectively, in line with TWC values and culture.
- Understand our brand and ensure it is reflected in all people management materials, policies, and communications.
- Create and maintain partnerships with L&D, Talent Acquisition, Communications & Engagement, and Pay & Reward teams to ensure coordinated people initiatives.
Insight
- Support the People Partnership Manager in creating people analytics that tell a story aligned with the people strategy.
- Use analytics to facilitate impactful conversations with business partners, guiding better decisions.
- Utilize relevant metrics to develop insights supporting People Team strategies and influencing management behavior.
- Ensure all department trackers and reports are up-to-date.
Employee Relations
- Work with Store and Area Managers to provide solutions-focused support on employee relations issues such as disciplinary and grievance procedures, addressing recurring issues proactively.
- Support Retail in talent management, including managing underperformance and identifying high performers.
- Stay updated on employment law changes to ensure policies and practices remain compliant.
- Ensure policies and procedures are interpreted fairly and consistently across teams.
- Support ER investigations by taking notes, advising on processes, and confirming outcomes.
- Assist with flexible working applications.
Reward
- Guide and advise on remuneration submissions, supporting completion of relevant paperwork.
- Support annual reward processes such as pay reviews and bonuses.
- Assist with salary benchmarking to align TWC salaries with market standards.
Organisation Design
- Support proposed structural changes, working with managers to develop proposals and support delivery.
- Assist senior colleagues on organisational design projects and queries.
- Help evaluate ways of working to optimize team output.
