Job description

Location: Head Office, London and Ravenswood

Hybrid working: 2 days on site as required (between Stanmore, London & Ravenswood Village) and home working

Are you CIPD qualified, up to speed with the latest employment laws, and experienced in employee relations including disciplinary, grievances, change management, and consultation processes? Do you possess strong people skills, enjoy working at pace, and can quickly build effective working relationships with excellent communication skills? We are seeking an experienced People Advisor to play a critical role in supporting the organisation through complex employee relations matters, change management, organisational restructures, and stakeholder partnerships. This is a key role for someone who can offer expert advice, influence leaders, and guide managers through sensitive people-related challenges with confidence, clarity, and professionalism.

Main Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the People Partner in providing full support with all matters relating to employee relations, including disciplinary, grievance, change management (restructures), capability, performance management, absence management, and employee terms and conditions.
  • Advise line managers on employment law, employment contracts, and employee relations. Support and advise departmental colleagues on People and Culture matters, maintaining confidentiality and ensuring clear, effective communication.
  • Lead casework related to employee relations issues, including making recommendations, providing advice, liaising with Occupational Health, supporting disciplinary hearings, grievance procedures, and change process consultations. Support development and maintenance of a performance management framework, enhancing managers’ skills in this area.
  • Develop and maintain collaborative relationships with managers and colleagues, establishing professional credibility.
  • Review, update, and communicate legislation, policies, and best practices organization-wide.
  • Assist in designing and delivering development workshops to enhance knowledge and skills.
  • Maintain accurate, up-to-date records for all responsibilities, ensuring compliance with the Data Protection Act.
  • Regularly meet with the People Partner to discuss matters of concern, seeking advice and guidance as needed, and promptly addressing employee relations issues.
  • Possess a sound awareness of employment law to guide front-line managers effectively.
  • Demonstrate strong presentation and facilitation skills.
  • Participate in producing and reviewing HR policies.
  • Hold CIPD Level 3 qualification or above.
  • Quickly analyze situations and respond appropriately when providing advice or guidance.
  • Communicate effectively at all levels, internally and externally, building credibility across the organization.
  • Show sensitivity and respect for cultural diversity.
  • Exhibit excellent people skills, including observation, listening, empathy, tact, and diplomacy.
  • Be customer-focused with a “can do” attitude.
  • Work effectively as part of a team and independently, setting your own agenda in support of services.
  • Plan time effectively and work independently.
  • Build and maintain good relationships with colleagues and the wider community.
  • Show high commitment and enthusiasm.
  • Remain focused on long-term vision while handling daily tasks efficiently.
