Northumbria Police invites applications for a People Administrator Apprentice. This role supports the People Partnering team, delivering professional HR services while working towards a Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship. Salary: Band 4, £27,204 - £27,513(Please note it is Northumbria Police policy to appoint at the beginning of the band)

The role

As a People Administrator Apprentice, you will play an important role in supporting the delivery of professional, efficient and high-quality HR services across Northumbria Police while working towards a Level 3 HR Support Apprenticeship. As part of the People Partnering team, you will gain hands‑on experience across a wide range of HR activities, developing the knowledge, skills and behaviours needed for a successful career in Human Resources.
In this varied and rewarding role, you will provide administrative support across the employee lifecycle, including areas such as family leave, contractual changes, flexible working requests and employee exits. You will manage HR enquiries through the team inbox, provide excellent customer service to colleagues and stakeholders, maintain accurate employee records and systems, and assist with the preparation of documentation for a range of people‑related processes. You will also support the production of workforce reports and gain valuable experience working with sensitive information in a professional and confidential manner.

Terms of appointment
This is a permanent role subject to a 24‑month commitment to post.
Due to the investment in training and development required to perform this role, during the first 24 months in post, you will not be eligible to apply for any other vacancies advertised by Northumbria Police, either internally or externally.
Internal applicants should normally have completed six months in their current role. Where this requirement is not met, approval must be sought through the Careers mailbox and will be considered by the relevant policy/process owner.
