Job summary

Arriva is seeking a People Administrator on a 12-month fixed-term contract to join its HR team. The role is hybrid, with three days in the office, based in Aintree or London, and supports the employee lifecycle from onboarding to payroll data.

You will be the first point of contact for HR enquiries, manage contracts and onboarding, conduct Right to Work checks, maintain GDPR-compliant records and assist with HR reporting and project work in a collaborative, fast-paced environment.

  • Strong administration and organisational skills.
  • Experience using HR systems and databases.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office 365, including Outlook, Teams, Word and Excel.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Ability to handle confidential information with discretion.
  • A collaborative and customer-focused approach.
  • Desirable: Previous experience in an HR Administration or HR Shared Services environment.
  • Desirable: Experience using Workday.
  • Desirable: Experience supporting a variety of administrative and project-based activities.
  • Desirable: Intermediate Excel skills, including formulas, lookups, pivot tables and mail merge.

Responsibilities

  • Acting as the first point of contact for HR enquiries via phone and our HR case management system.
  • Preparing and issuing contracts, offer letters and onboarding documentation for new starters.
  • Managing Right to Work checks and maintaining compliance records.
  • Processing employee lifecycle changes within Workday, including starters, leavers and transfers.
  • Maintaining accurate HR records in line with GDPR requirements.
  • Supporting payroll processes by ensuring employee data is updated accurately and on time.
  • Managing employee benefits administration, references, travel passes and other HR-related requests.
  • Supporting Subject Access Requests (SARs).
  • Producing HR reports, management information and supporting audit activities.
  • Assisting with HR projects, continuous improvement initiatives and employee engagement activities.
  • Building strong working relationships with colleagues across HR, Payroll, Recruitment, Finance and operational teams.
