Job summary

Spence is seeking an Actuarial Analyst to join our Actuarial & Investment team in Belfast. You will support a diverse client base including trustees and sponsoring employers, providing actuarial advice and technical support within the pensions sector.

You will engage with mentors, follow a structured development plan, and gain exposure across our business while building actuarial credibility in a growing consultancy.

Qualifications

• Eligiblity to work in the UK.
• Honours degree (2:1 or above).
• A Levels Mathematics (B or above).
• Excellent IT skills with Microsoft Word and Excel.
• Experience of working proactively and using your own initiative.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Understanding of UK Defined Benefit Pension Schemes and regulatory environment.

Responsibilities

• Provide actuarial support to a portfolio of clients with timely, client-focused service.
• Use creativity and critical thinking to develop tailor-made solutions.
• Communicate effectively with clients through regular meetings and presentations.
• Utilise Mantle to assess client risks and develop appropriate solutions.
• Prepare actuarial and member benefits calculations and models.
• Assess impact of demographics, legislation and market changes on pension schemes.
• Draft reports and presentations for client decision-making.
• Support Pension Protection Fund engagement as part of the Specialist Administration and Actuarial Services Panel.
• Contribute to internal projects to improve processes and service propositions.
• Develop specialisms over time to positively impact ways of working.
