Job description

Overview

Following a period of sustained growth and success, and a host of award wins (including the one mentioned), we are expanding our actuarial consulting and analyst teams in our London, Manchester, Edinburgh, and Ipswich offices. If you have actuarial qualifications and experience in the UK Defined Benefit/Final Salary Pension sector, we invite you to learn about the great opportunities we offer, including a supportive, collaborative culture, genuine career progression, varied work, and diverse clients.

We will support you in obtaining a fully-qualified Actuary status (though this is not mandatory if you prefer not to pursue further exams), and can provide guidance and tools to help you obtain a Scheme Actuary certificate, take on client responsibilities, and act as a client manager. We are flexible regarding working arrangements, including part-time and flexible hours, and will accommodate these requests.

How you'll make an impact

In this role, you will work within an established team of qualified and part-qualified actuaries, serving as an actuarial and consulting assistant for a portfolio of clients. Your responsibilities will include:

  1. Preparing valuations and cost estimates
  2. Supervising accounting disclosures (FRS17, IAS19, USGAAP)
  3. Coordinating data collection, including editing and testing received data
  4. Undertaking and verifying all actuarial work related to pension schemes
  5. Preparing client letters, reports, and materials
  6. Checking calculations as needed
  7. Participating in internal projects and handling special assignments
  8. Assisting scheme consultants with pension scheme consultancy, including attending client/trustee meetings
  9. Providing leadership, feedback, and training to actuarial analysts
About You

Ideal candidates will have:

  • A good numerical or mathematics-based degree
  • Progress in actuarial exams, typically having completed CT exams and CA1
  • Significant experience in the pensions actuarial environment
