Job summary

Mersey and West Lancashire Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Band 5 Staff Nurse to join the Paediatrics team on a 12-month fixed term contract. The role is part time (22.8 hours per week) with maternity cover options and the potential for fixed-term variants.

Based in Whiston Hospital, Ward 3F provides 25 beds with HDU facilities. You will work as named nurse for a group of patients, ensuring high standards of care, and must be able to start promptly with enhanced DBS clearance.

Qualifications

• 1st Level Registered Nurse (degree/diploma) with current NMC registration.
• Evidence of continuing professional development and commitment to CPD.
• UK nursing experience within paediatrics preferred.

Responsibilities

• Formulate and implement individual patient care plans with the ward team.
• Act as named nurse for a group of patients from admission to discharge.
• Participate in research or special projects as directed by management.
• Maintain standards of care and monitor equipment as required.
• Engage in rotations including night duty and twilight shifts.
• Promote effective communication across ward staff and departments.
• Safeguard vulnerable patients according to policy and guidelines.
