Job summary

Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust invites applications for a Play Assistant in the Emergency Department's Paediatric team. The role focuses on providing age-appropriate play, distraction and recreational activities to meet the needs of children and their families, while supporting safeguarding and family-centred care.

You will work with the multidisciplinary team to create a stimulating environment, organise activities daily, and ensure play equipment is safe and well-maintained.

Qualifications

• Motivated and enthusiastic Play Assistant to provide the best experience for children in hospital.
• Ability to assess, plan, implement, and evaluate play and distraction aligned to family-centred care.

Responsibilities

• Organise and supervise age-appropriate play and recreational activities for children and young people in the Paediatric ED.
• Provide therapeutic play to support emotional and social needs.
• Ensure play equipment is clean, safe and maintained at all times.
• Record accurate and appropriate written documentation in patients' notes.
• Work with the multi-disciplinary team and act as a safeguarding advocate.
