Job summary

Frimley Health NHS Foundation Trust in Slough is seeking a Play Support Worker to assist Paediatrics. The role is part-time (22.5 hours) at Wexham Park Hospital, focusing on child-friendly, therapeutic play to reduce anxiety and support emotional wellbeing.

You will work under Play Specialists, helping plan activities, maintain safety, and liaise with families and the MDT to ensure coordinated care.

Qualifications

• Good written English and verbal communication skills.
• Ability to communicate verbally with all levels of personnel within the organisation.
• Able to work with team and independently.
• Good administration and organisational skills.
• Educated to GSCE (or equivalent) level.
• Willing to undertake training appropriate for the role.
• Customer care experience.
• Previous experience working in an acute hospital.

Responsibilities

• Assist with the daily running of the play service throughout Paediatrics.
• Deliver a high-quality play service, treating patients and families with kindness and dignity.
• Create a welcoming, child-friendly environment to reduce anxiety.
• Organise and supervise individual and group play activities reflecting needs.
• Ensure play is inclusive, therapeutic, and culturally appropriate.
• Maintain play areas and resources, ensuring safety and cleanliness.
• Support health, safety, and wellbeing of children in care.
• Liaise with families and multidisciplinary team to coordinate care.
