Job summary

NatureScot invites applications for the Peatland ACTION Delivery Team officer role, based in mainland Scotland with travel across Scotland. The post contributes to restoration projects and provides specialist peatland advice while shaping policy, guidance, and delivery processes.

The role requires peatland ecology expertise, experience in policy development, and strong stakeholder engagement. It includes opportunities for professional development within a supportive nature-focused environment.

Qualifications

• Degree or equivalent relevant experience in land management, agriculture, forestry or nature conservation.
• Experience developing and drafting policy, guidance and process development documentation.
• Understanding of peatland ecology, wetland hydrology and upland management, including restoration techniques.
• Experience managing projects and contracts related to conservation land management.
• Understanding of Scottish land management and tenure systems, including crofting.

Responsibilities

• Policy development and project delivery for Restoration Aftercare Programme.
• Coordinate input to compliance monitoring and design follow-up action.
• Develop herbivore impact policy and air ADT methodology.
• Lead on policy guidance for Prior Notification.
• Assist in CDM guidance and site-inspection processes.
• Improve delivery processes and provide guidance for site visits.
