Job summary

London Hire Community Services in Milton Keynes is seeking a PCV Driver (Zero Hours). You will provide a safe home-to-school transport service and may operate the passenger lift while assisting the Passenger Assistant as needed.

Requirements include a full unrestricted D driving licence (auto allowed) with up to 3 penalty points, a CPC card with up-to-date training, and at least two years’ bus/coach driving experience. Willingness to obtain a DVLA tachograph card and DBS check is required.

Qualifications

• Full, unrestricted D driving licence (auto allowed) with no more than 3 penalty points.
• CPC qualification card with up-to-date training.
• At least two years’ bus/coach driving experience.
• Willing to apply for DVLA digital tachograph card.
• Willing to undertake a DBS check.
• Current D4 medical examination report.
• Sound understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
• Patient and level-headed attitude.

Responsibilities

• Operate the vehicle safely, following local road rules and report fines promptly.
• Perform mandatory vehicle checks before each trip and report defects.
• Secure passengers and wheelchairs using required safety equipment.
• Ensure adequate fuel for journeys and refuel as needed.
• Keep the vehicle clean inside and out on a regular basis (weekly minimum).
• Remove and replace seating as required.
• Park the vehicle in allocated bays at the depot.
• Operate passenger lift and assist passengers entering/exiting the vehicle.
• Communicate with passengers and clients in a patient, informative manner.
• Assist the Passenger Assistant with duties as required.

PCV Driver (Zero Hours)

Compensation: £15.65 / hour

Description

Our PCV Drivers are responsible a professional driving service that supports our clients and service users. In addition to providing a safe home-to-school transport operation, you may also be operating the passenger lift and assisting the Passenger Assistant with the service users as and when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the vehicle in a safe manner, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits. Any fines or tickets received must be reported to the office as soon as possible.
• Ensure mandatory vehicle checks are undertaken every time the vehicle is used to a standard acceptable on the road. Any defects to be reported to the office
• Ensure that all passengers and wheelchair users are secured correctly in the appropriate location using the necessary safety equipment.
• Ensure that the vehicle in use has adequate fuel for the journey, refueling as and when required or instructed.
• Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned inside and out on a regular basis, as a minimum on a weekly basis
• Remove and replace seating as required.
• Ensure that the vehicle is parked in the depot correctly, in pre allocated bays where possible.
• Operate the passenger lift and other equipment used to assist passengers whilst entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
• Communicate with passengers and clients in a patient, informative manner.
• Assist the Passenger Assistant with their duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Sound understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
• Able to deliver the service with a patient and level-headed attitude.
• Hold a full unrestricted D driving licence (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points
• Hold a CPC qualification card, with mandatory training kept up to date.
• Minimum of two years’ experience of driving a bus or coach.
• Hold or willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver’s card.
• Willing to undertake and satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
• Hold a current and valid D4 medical examination report
