Job summary

London Hire Ltd in Hoddesdon is seeking a PCV Driver (Zero-Hours) to provide transport services including rail replacement, private hire, and contract work. You will operate buses/coaches with a focus on safety and customer care.

The role requires a full D1 licence, CPC card, tachograph card, DBS clearance, and a D4 medical. Two years’ bus/coach driving experience is preferred. The position offers a £16.36 per hour rate under a zero-hours contract.

Qualifications

• Must hold a full D1 driving licence (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points.
• CPC qualification card and training up to date.
• Two years’ experience driving a bus or coach.
• Willing to apply for DVLA Digital Tachograph card.
• Willing to undergo a DBS check.
• Hold a current D4 medical examination report.

Responsibilities

• Operate the vehicle safely, adhering to local road rules and speed limits.
• Perform mandatory vehicle checks before use and report defects.
• Secure all passengers and wheelchair users with the correct safety equipment.
• Ensure adequate fuel and regular cleaning of the vehicle.
• Assist with seating adjustments and parking in allocated bays.
• Operate passenger lift and helper equipment to assist entering/exiting.
• Communicate with passengers in a patient, informative manner.
• Support the Passenger Assistant in duties as required.

Description

Our PCV Drivers are responsible a professional driving service that supports our clients and service users. You will be providing transportation services such as rail replacement, private hire, contract work, you may also be operating the passenger lift and assisting the Passenger Assistant with the service users as and when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the vehicle in a safe manner, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits. Any fines or tickets received must be reported to the office as soon as possible.
• Ensure mandatory vehicle checks are undertaken every time the vehicle is used to a standard acceptable on the road. Any defects to be reported to the office
• Ensure that all passengers and wheelchair users are secured correctly in the appropriate location using the necessary safety equipment.
• Ensure that the vehicle in use has adequate fuel for the journey, refueling as and when required or instructed.
• Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned inside and out on a regular basis, as a minimum on a weekly basis
• Remove and replace seating as required.
• Ensure that the vehicle is parked in the depot correctly, in pre allocated bays where possible.
• Operate the passenger lift and other equipment used to assist passengers whilst entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
• Communicate with passengers and clients in a patient, informative manner.
• Assist the Passenger Assistant with their duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Sound understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
• Able to deliver the service with a patient and level-headed attitude.
• Hold a full unrestricted D1 driving licence (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points
• Hold a CPC qualification card, with mandatory training kept up to date.
• Minimum of two years’ experience of driving a bus or coach.
• Hold or willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver’s card.
• Willing to undertake and satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
• Hold a current and valid D4 medical examination report
