Job summary

London Hire Ltd in London is hiring a PCV Bus Driver for 32 hours per week to provide a safe home-to-school transport service and assist service users as required.

You will operate the vehicle to official standards, perform mandatory checks, secure passengers and wheelchairs, refuel if needed, and coordinate with the Passenger Assistant to deliver a reliable service.

Flexible on-site parking is available and there is a supportive team led by the Transport Manager.

Qualifications

• Full unrestricted D driving licence with auto restrictions acceptable and max 3 penalty points.
• CPC qualification card, training up to date.
• Willing to undergo DBS check and DVLA Tachograph card training.
• D4 medical examination up to date.

Responsibilities

• Operate vehicle safely, adhering to road rules and reporting fines.
• Conduct mandatory vehicle checks before use and report defects.
• Secure passengers and wheelchairs using proper restraints and equipment.
• Ensure adequate fuel and refuel as needed.
• Keep vehicle clean weekly and manage seating as required.
• Operate passenger lift and assist passengers entering/exiting.
• Communicate with passengers in a patient and informative manner.
• Assist the Passenger Assistant as needed.

Description

Our PCV Drivers are responsible a professional driving service that supports our clients and service users. In addition to providing a safe home-to-school transport operation, you may also be operating the passenger lift and assisting the Passenger Assistant with the service users as and when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the vehicle in a safe manner, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits. Any fines or tickets received must be reported to the office as soon as possible.
• Ensure mandatory vehicle checks are undertaken every time the vehicle is used to a standard acceptable on the road. Any defects to be reported to the office
• Ensure that all passengers and wheelchair users are secured correctly in the appropriate location using the necessary safety equipment.
• Ensure that the vehicle in use has adequate fuel for the journey, refueling as and when required or instructed.
• Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned inside and out on a regular basis, as a minimum on a weekly basis
• Remove and replace seating as required.
• Ensure that the vehicle is parked in the depot correctly, in pre allocated bays where possible.
• Operate the passenger lift and other equipment used to assist passengers whilst entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
• Communicate with passengers and clients in a patient, informative manner.
• Assist the Passenger Assistant with their duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Sound understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
• Able to deliver the service with a patient and level-headed attitude.
• Hold a full unrestricted D driving licence (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points
• Hold a CPC qualification card, with mandatory training kept up to date.
• Minimum of two years' experience of driving a bus or coach.
• Hold or willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver's card.
• Willing to undertake and satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
• Hold a current and valid D4 medical examination report
