London Hire Community Services is seeking a PCV Driver to join our team in Friern Barnet. This permanent role involves operating a bus or coach, ensuring passenger safety and providing reliable transport for service users.

You will hold a full D driving licence with up to 3 penalty points, CPC card, and a commitment to safeguarding. The role offers 45 hours per week, with term-time style scheduling and pro-rata pay at £17.01 per hour.

Formación

• Must have disability awareness and patient, level-headed approach.
• Hold a full unrestricted D driving licence (auto restrictions OK) with no more than 3 penalty points.
• Must hold a CPC qualification card with up-to-date training.
• Minimum 2 years' experience driving a bus or coach.

Responsabilidades

• Operate the vehicle safely, respecting local road rules and reporting penalties.
• Perform mandatory vehicle checks before each trip and report defects.
• Ensure passengers and wheelchair users are secured with proper safety equipment.
• Ensure vehicle has adequate fuel and refuel as needed.
• Keep the vehicle clean inside and out weekly.
• Remove and replace seating as required.
• Park the vehicle in depot bays as allocated.
• Operate passenger lift and assist passengers safely.
• Communicate with passengers in a patient, informative manner.
• Assist the Passenger Assistant as required.

Description

Our PCV Drivers are responsible a professional driving service that supports our clients and service users. In addition to providing a safe home-to-school transport operation, you may also be operating the passenger lift and assisting the Passenger Assistant with the service users as and when required.

Key Responsibilities

• Operate the vehicle in a safe manner, adhering to local road restrictions and speed limits. Any fines or tickets received must be reported to the office as soon as possible.
• Ensure mandatory vehicle checks are undertaken every time the vehicle is used to a standard acceptable on the road. Any defects to be reported to the office
• Ensure that all passengers and wheelchair users are secured correctly in the appropriate location using the necessary safety equipment.
• Ensure that the vehicle in use has adequate fuel for the journey, refueling as and when required or instructed.
• Ensure that the vehicle is cleaned inside and out on a regular basis, as a minimum on a weekly basis
• Remove and replace seating as required.
• Ensure that the vehicle is parked in the depot correctly, in pre allocated bays where possible.
• Operate the passenger lift and other equipment used to assist passengers whilst entering and exiting the vehicle safely.
• Communicate with passengers and clients in a patient, informative manner.
• Assist the Passenger Assistant with their duties as required.

Skills, Knowledge and Expertise

• Sound understanding of working with individuals with disabilities.
• Able to deliver the service with a patient and level-headed attitude.
• Hold a full unrestricted D driving licence (auto restrictions acceptable) with no more than 3 penalty points
• Hold a CPC qualification card, with mandatory training kept up to date.
• Minimum of two years’ experience of driving a bus or coach.
• Hold or willing to apply for a DVLA Digital Tachograph driver’s card.
• Willing to undertake and satisfy a Disclosure and Barring Service check.
• Hold a current and valid D4 medical examination report

Benefits

• Contracts are 45 hours per week, 36 weeks of the year, worked on a split-shift basis covering AM and PM transport.
• Term-time only, rolled up holiday pay entitlement is 12.07% of gross pay relating to work completed. This will be paid to you each month, and there is no entitlement to other additional paid annual leave to be taken during school term weeks.
