The role provides a specialist Paramedic resource for healthcare professionals and service users, working collaboratively within the Multidisciplinary Team.
Main duties include:
- Working within the community as an autonomous, accountable Paramedic Practitioner, providing holistic assessment, diagnosis, and treatment.
- Assessing, diagnosing, treating, referring, or signposting patients with undifferentiated or undiagnosed minor illnesses or injuries.
- Using advanced clinical skills to educate service users, promoting self-care and informed decision-making.
- Owning a vehicle for home visits, with expenses included in the package.

Supporting within the Acute Illness Clinic, diagnosing and treating patients with minor illnesses.

Swallowfield Medical Practice comprises 8 GPs, 3 Paramedic Practitioners, a nursing team, and other healthcare professionals, supported by administrative and dispensary staff.
Job responsibilities
The Paramedic Practitioner will:
- Support the primary healthcare team by triaging and treating patients, making referrals as necessary.
- Ensure safe and effective clinical practice within competence boundaries.
- Advise on health care and minor ailments, referring to other team members as needed.
- Work both in the surgery and community as an autonomous practitioner, maintaining professional standards.
- Conduct community assessments, using diagnostic skills and investigations.
- Maintain accurate healthcare records and ensure evidence-based care.
- Participate in continuous professional development and audits.
- Undertake collection of pathological specimens and investigatory procedures as requested.
- Participate in practice meetings, training, and development activities.
- Maintain confidentiality and promote equality and diversity within the team and with patients.
- Strive for high-quality care, managing time and resources effectively.
- Communicate effectively with team members, patients, and carers.
- Contribute to service development and audit activities.
Person Specification
Qualifications
- Qualified Paramedic registered with the HCPC.
Experience
- Minimum of 5 years as a Paramedic, with evidence of CPD and ability to evaluate clinical practice.
- Skills in education and training.
