Job description

Positive Behaviour Support (PBS) is a person-centred approach for providing long-term support to people with learning disabilities and autism, including those with mental health conditions, who display, or may be at risk of developing, behaviours of concern. The PBS Practitioner works in partnership with individuals to understand their life circumstances including physical and emotional needs, with the aim of developing physical and social environments that are supportive and capable of meeting people's needs. The PBS Practitioner achieves this by working in partnership with other health and social care teams across Gloucestershire. As a PBS Practitioner, we understand the work you do on a daily basis and provide the support you need to make a difference to the people of Gloucestershire.

Are you passionate about working with people to promote independence and dedicated to making a difference? As a PBS Practitioner, you will have the chance to make a real positive impact on people's lives, utilising your excellent communication and interpersonal skills to build strong relationships with a range of stakeholders. Using your significant knowledge of the PBS framework and experience of working with vulnerable adults, you will utilise your professional judgement to undertake Functional Assessments and to develop BSP's. You will contribute to the development of the service and be able to work as part of a team and on your own initiative. You will embrace new ways of thinking and working as well as take up opportunities for professional and self-development.

For further information on the role please see the attached Job Description.

Minimum Requirements:
  • Have a professional Diploma in Positive Behavioural Support (QCF4) or equivalent (Applied Behavioural Analysis), or currently working towards significant experience within the field of PBS
  • Registered as a member of the UKSBA or willingness to register
  • Have working knowledge of the legislative and Positive Behaviour Support frameworks, theory and practice; including the PBS competencies outlined by the PBS academy
  • Be highly organised with a solution-focused, logical and innovative approach to challenges
  • Be able to prioritise, using a risk-based approach

Our values are at the heart of everything we do and how we treat each other. They provide essential guiding principles about the way that we work and set the tone for our culture, and identify what we, as an organisation, care about. If you hold the same behaviours and approach, then we want to hear from you! In exchange, we will provide you with full training and support to help you succeed in your role.

We reserve the right to close this vacancy early due to the volume of applications received and/or due to the needs of the service. The advert will be open for a minimum of 7 calendar days. If you are interested in applying, we encourage you to submit your application as early as possible. We want to be an employer of choice, attracting and retaining excellent people to work for us, so that we can best serve all of Gloucestershire's diverse communities. Our promise to you is that we will provide an inclusive and supportive working environment that enables you to bring your whole self to work and realise your full potential. It is a legal requirement, under the Immigration Act 2016, that anyone appointed to a 'customer facing role' must be able to demonstrate an ability to fulfil all spoken aspects of the role with confidence in fluent English. Hybrid working arrangements are available for the majority of our roles, giving teams the opportunity to work in a way that suits them, balancing service need and individual choice, with a mix of both remote and office working.

Benefits:
  • Regular formal and informal support
  • Safe, supportive and positive working environment with regular, robust supervision
  • Accredited post-qualified training opportunities, enabling you to develop your skills
  • Access to mandatory training and additional topical bi-annual workshops

  • Access to the Local Government Pension Scheme
  • Staff discount scheme that offers access to great savings including discounts with major supermarket chains and high street retailers
  • Cycle to work Scheme
