About The Role

Days of Working: Monday to Friday

Reporting to the Payroll Manager you will be responsible for a small team providing the timely and accurate delivery of the payroll service within OCS.

Team Leadership & Coordination

  • Oversee and coordinate the smooth and timely processing of payrolls for your team.
  • Lead, support, train and develop team members to maximize their contribution to the department.
  • Conduct regular performance reviews, providing constructive feedback and coaching.
  • Foster a culture of continuous improvement, identifying opportunities to enhance efficiency and accuracy.

Payroll Processing and Compliance

  • Ensure accurate payroll processing in compliance with HMRC regulations and company policies.
  • Review and approve payroll inputs, including new starters (including TUPE transfers), leavers, salary adjustments, and statutory payments (e.g., sickness, maternity, and paternity pay).
  • Oversee the accurate calculation and processing of deductions, such as student loans and Attachments to Earnings.
  • Validate and balance payroll reports before final approval and submission.
  • Generate and submit Full Payment Submissions (FPS) and Employer Payment Summaries (EPS) to HMRC.
  • Ensure timely and accurate processing of BACS payments, payslips, and P45s.

Payroll Accuracy & Reconciliation

  • Perform thorough payroll checks, verifying all processed data to maintain accuracy and compliance.
  • Extract and import time and attendance data from relevant systems or spreadsheets.
  • Maintain up-to-date and accurate payroll records, ensuring all temporary and permanent changes are documented correctly.
  • Process and reconcile third-party payments, including union fees, pension contributions, and other deductions.

About You

  • A strong understanding of end-to end payroll processing, including statutory payments and deductions
  • HMRC & UK Payroll Legislation Knowledge
  • Experience in managing, training and developing payroll colleagues.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, with the ability to use formulas and pivot tables for effective payroll data analysis.
  • Commitment in providing a quality service and building strong relations with key stakeholders
  • CIPP qualification (desirable)
