Job summary

Search Consultancy Ltd is seeking a diligent Payroll Officer to join our Leeds-based team. You will ensure accurate and timely payroll processing, handle deductions and statutory payments, and act as a helpful point of contact for staff and managers.

The role requires UK payroll knowledge, 2+ years of experience, proficiency with payroll software and Excel, and a discreet, deadline-driven approach. We offer a permanent, full-time position with a salary of 30,000–33,000 per annum, dependent on

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience in a payroll role.
• Good working knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE and pensions auto-enrolment.
• Experience with payroll software and confident using Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• A hardworking, reliable approach with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Outgoing and personable, with strong communication skills.
• Able to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• CIPP qualification or working towards one is desirable, but not essential.

Responsibilities

• Processing weekly/monthly payroll accurately and on time.
• Calculating and processing overtime, bonuses, commission, statutory pay (SSP, SMP, SPP) and deductions.
• Handling starters, leavers and changes to employee details.
• Managing tax, National Insurance, pensions and other statutory deductions.
• Preparing and submitting HMRC RTI returns and year-end reports.
• Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers in a helpful, professional way.
• Carrying out payroll checks and reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Keeping confidential payroll records up to date and compliant with legislation.
