Job summary

Search Consultancy LTD in Leeds is seeking a Payroll Officer to join our payroll team. You will ensure employees are paid accurately and on time, handle starters and leavers, and act as a helpful point of contact for managers.

The role requires at least 2 years in payroll, solid knowledge of UK PAYE and pensions auto-enrolment, and experience with payroll software and Excel. Strong attention to detail and discretion are essential; CIPP is desirable but not essential.

Qualifications

• At least 2 years' experience in a payroll role.
• Good working knowledge of UK payroll legislation, PAYE and pensions auto-enrolment.
• Experience with payroll software and confident using Excel.
• Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
• A hardworking, reliable approach with the ability to meet deadlines.
• Outgoing and personable, with strong communication skills.
• Able to handle sensitive information with discretion.
• CIPP qualification or working towards one is desirable.

Responsibilities

• Processing weekly/monthly payroll accurately and on time.
• Calculating and processing overtime, bonuses, commission, statutory pay and deductions.
• Handling starters, leavers and changes to employee details.
• Managing tax, National Insurance, pensions and other statutory deductions.
• Preparing and submitting HMRC RTI returns and year-end reports.
• Responding to payroll queries from employees and managers in a helpful, professional way.
• Carrying out payroll checks and reconciliations to ensure accuracy.
• Keeping confidential payroll records up to date and compliant with legislation.
