Job summary

Portfolio Payroll Limited are recruiting an experienced Payroll Specialist to join our high‑performing payroll function. You will take ownership of end‑to‑end payroll processing for weekly and monthly cycles for circa 3,000 employees in a fast‑paced environment, reporting to the Payroll Manager.

The role focuses on accuracy, compliance and exceptional service delivery, with exposure to RTI, year‑end tasks, and data integrity.

Qualifications

• Experience in end-to-end payroll processing for weekly and monthly cycles.
• Proven ability to handle RTI submissions and year-end tasks.
• Strong numerical accuracy and data integrity.

Responsibilities

• End-to-end payroll processing for weekly and monthly cycles.
• Input, validation and maintenance of starters, leavers, changes and absences.
• Manage high-volume data uploads and reconciliations.
• Process statutory deductions and RTI submissions.
• Respond to payroll queries with clarity and professionalism.
• Support audits, reporting and compliance checks.
• Contribute to process improvements and system optimisation.
• Collaborate with HR, Finance and site teams.

Portfolio Payroll are proud to be supporting a leading manufacturing business as they look to appoint an experienced Payroll Specialist to join their high‑performing payroll function. Reporting directly into the Payroll Manager, this is a fantastic opportunity to take ownership of both weekly and monthly payrolls for a workforce of circa 3,000 employees, within a fast‑paced, complex environment.

The Role

As a key member of the payroll team, you will support the end‑to‑end processing of high‑volume payrolls, ensuring accuracy, compliance and exceptional service delivery to employees and internal stakeholders. You'll work closely with the Payroll Manager to maintain smooth operations, contribute to continuous improvement, and uphold best practice across all payroll activities.

• End‑to‑end payroll for weekly and monthly cycles
• Accurate input and validation of starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences and statutory payments
• Managing high‑volume data uploads and reconciliations
• Processing statutory deductions, RTI submissions and year‑end tasks
• Responding to employee payroll queries with professionalism and clarity
• Supporting audits, reporting and compliance checks
• Contributing to process improvements and system optimisation
• Working collaboratively with HR, Finance and operational teams across the manufacturing sites

About You

• Strong experience within a high‑volume payroll environment
• Excellent attention to detail and numerical accuracy
• Confident communicator, able to handle queries across all levels of the business
• Comfortable working in a fast‑paced, deadline‑driven environment
• Knowledge of weekly payroll cycles is highly desirable
