Payroll / People Advisor

Liverpool or London - The role is offered within a hybrid working environment with a blend of office and homeworking.

Liverpool: £30,079 to £33,000; London: £33,079 to £36,000

Contract type: Fixed-term (12 months)

Working arrangements: 35 hours per week. Standard hours between 9am – 5pm, Monday to Friday. Hybrid working with a minimum of 6 days per month in the office. Required to work in the office on Wednesdays.

The People and Culture team at the Royal College of Physicians is seeking an enthusiastic and proactive individual to join as a People and Culture Officer – payroll, reward, and people analytics. This position offers an excellent opportunity for an experienced professional with payroll experience looking to advance their career within the team.

Key Responsibilities

The payroll, reward, and reporting People and Culture Officer will handle a fast-paced environment with high volumes, collaborating across the team.

You will mainly focus on:

  1. Managing monthly payroll data and liaising with the finance payroll team to ensure accurate payments.
  2. Administering payroll and contractual changes for new and existing employees.
  3. Generating various people data reports, including headcount, reward statements, and ad hoc reports.
  4. Responding to queries received via the shared HR mailbox.

There will be opportunities to participate in projects aimed at service improvement.

What you will need to succeed

  • Strong ability to prioritize workload and maintain high accuracy.
  • Experience managing payroll processes for organizations with approximately 400 employees.
  • Experience with HR information systems; Cascade HRIS experience is desirable.
  • Excellent knowledge of MS Word and advanced Excel skills.
  • CIPD Level 3 qualification or equivalent experience.
  • Highly organized with the ability to meet conflicting deadlines.
