Job summary

Consortium Professional Recruitment Ltd in Hull is seeking a Payroll Officer to oversee outsourcing partner payroll cycles, verify data and resolve discrepancies, ensuring payroll runs are timely and accurate. You will coordinate with the external provider, check changes like starters and leavers, and support pension administration while keeping records compliant with HMRC and internal procedures.

Qualifications

• Previous experience working within a payroll environment.
• Good understanding of payroll legislation, HMRC requirements and payroll best practice.
• Experience using payroll systems and Microsoft Office, particularly Excel.
• Strong organisational skills with the ability to manage workload and meet deadlines.
• Excellent attention to detail and ability to verify payroll data.

Responsibilities

• Work with the external payroll provider to ensure monthly payroll is processed accurately and on time.
• Check payroll information before and after each payroll run, investigating and resolving discrepancies.
• Coordinate payroll changes such as starters, leavers, contractual changes, absences and salary amendments.
• Support the administration of workplace pensions, ensuring information is accurate and submitted on time.
• Respond to payroll and pension queries with clear advice and excellent customer service.
• Help improve payroll processes, maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with HMRC and internal procedures.
