Job summary

Marks Sattin is seeking a Payroll Officer for a Tewkesbury-based role with a hybrid work pattern (1 day on-site, rest remote). The position carries a £35,000 annual salary.

You will own weekly and monthly payrolls, support financial reporting, and uphold strong financial controls within a manufacturing environment.

Qualifications

• Experience in payroll, finance or accounting environment is required.
• Good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft packages.
• AAT qualification or studying ACCA/CIMA is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Ownership and completion of weekly and monthly payrolls, including Time & Attendance system management.
• Processing payroll-related queries and ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance.
• Completion of associated general ledger journals.
• Production of monthly headcount and people-related reporting.
• Recharging costs within the Group.
• Balance sheet reconciliations and variance investigations.
• Assist with VAT returns and Corporation Tax reporting.

Payroll Officer

Tewkesbury - 1 day WFH

Our Tewkesbury manufacturing client is seeking an experienced finance professional to join the Finance team in a role that will have a strong focus on payroll administration and financial accounting.

This position would suit an individual who has previous experience working within a payroll, finance, or accounting environment and is looking to develop their career within a dynamic manufacturing business. The successful candidate will take ownership of key payroll processes while supporting financial reporting, controls, and compliance activities.

Working closely with Finance, HR, and operational teams, you will play a critical role in ensuring payroll accuracy, maintaining financial controls, and supporting the delivery of timely and accurate financial information.

Key responsibilities include:

• Ownership and completion of weekly and monthly payrolls, including management of the Time & Attendance system.
• Processing payroll-related queries and ensuring payroll accuracy and compliance.
• Completion of associated general ledger journals.
• Production of monthly headcount and people-related reporting.
• Recharging of costs within the Group.
• Performing balance sheet reconciliations and investigating variances.
• Assisting with the preparation and submission of quarterly VAT returns.
• Analysing expenditure for Corporation Tax reporting requirements.
• Supporting annual stocktakes.
• Assisting with internal and external audits.
• Identifying opportunities to improve payroll and finance processes.

Candidate profile

The ideal candidate will have experience in a similar role and ideally be AAT qualified and/or actively studying towards ACCA, CIMA or similar. You will also have:

• A good working knowledge of Microsoft Excel and other Microsoft packages.
• Excellent communication skills, with the ability to offer a high level of customer service and build strong working relationships with internal customers.
• Ability to retain and not share confidential information
• Be efficient, proactive, self-motivated, highly organised with good attention to detail.
