Job summary

James Hall & Co. Ltd is seeking an experienced Payroll Manager to lead end-to-end payroll operations for the group, including our Payroll Bureau service. The role reports to the Group Finance Director and sits within the Accounts Department at Bowland View, Preston.

The ideal candidate will have strong UK payroll knowledge, CIPP or equivalent certification, and proven leadership. You will manage multiple payrolls, ensure accurate pension contributions, HMRC reporting, and compliance with current

• CIPP qualification or equivalent payroll certification with relevant experience.
• Strong knowledge of UK payroll legislation, pension schemes, and HMRC requirements.
• Excellent attention to detail with high accuracy and compliance.
• Proven ability to lead and develop teams.
• Confident communicator across finance, HR and operations.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end payroll across multiple payrolls within the group.
• Ensure accurate pension contributions, RTI submissions and year-end reporting.
• Prepare and submit statutory reports (Gender Pay Gap, employment statistics).
• Maintain compliance with HMRC guidance and pension scheme requirements.
• Lead, develop and manage the Payroll Team and liaise with auditors.
