Job summary

JGA Recruitment Group Ltd is seeking a Payroll Manager in Cumbria to join a well-established professional services business. You will manage a diverse portfolio of client payrolls from start to finish, ensuring accuracy, timeliness and compliance with current legislation.

The role is office-based, offering an opportunity to own client portfolios, handle payroll queries, and contribute to process improvements while working closely with clients and internal teams.

Qualifications

• Solid UK payroll experience with client-facing responsibilities.
• Experience managing a large, computerised payroll.
• Strong knowledge of PAYE, NI and pensions.
• Excellent Excel and IT skills.
• Strong attention to detail and numerical ability.
• Excellent organisation and communication skills.
• Professional and client-focused approach.

Responsibilities

• Managing end-to-end payrolls across a varied client base
• Processing starters, leavers, salary changes, tax codes and statutory payments
• Managing pensions, HMRC submissions and payroll payments
• Handling payroll queries from clients and employees
• Producing payroll reports and management information
• Carrying out regular payroll checks and maintaining accurate records
• Supporting payroll system updates, testing and improvements
• Working closely with clients and internal teams to resolve queries
