Job summary

Portfolio Payroll Limited is seeking a Payroll Manager to own the end‑to‑end UK payroll through a bureau provider, with hands‑on exposure to onboarding, employee record management and day‑to‑day HR queries. You will handle changes, stay compliant with HMRC, pensions and statutory payments, maintain CIPHR records and work closely with Finance in Stevenage on payroll reconciliation.

Job description

As a Payroll Manager, you'll take ownership of processing the end-to-end payroll through a bureau provider. You'll also get hands-on exposure to a variety of duties - from onboarding and employee record management to supporting day-to-day HR queries. Key Responsibilities

• Process payroll accurately and on schedule for all employees.
• Manage payroll changes including new starters, leavers, and contract amendments.
• Ensure compliance with HMRC legislation, pensions, and statutory payments.
• Reconcile payroll reports and liaise with Finance for payment approvals.
• Maintain employee records in the CIPHR Payroll system and ensure data accuracy.

What You'll Bring

• Previous experience managing a team
• Strong benefits/pensions background
• A good understanding of payroll legislation and best practice.
• Strong attention to detail and excellent organisational skills.
• Proficiency in MS Excel
• Preferred experience with the Ciphr payroll system
