Job summary

Vertex HR Recruitment- Specialists within HR and Payroll is seeking a proactive payroll leader to head the UK function across multiple payrolls. You will ensure accurate processing and P11D compliance while coordinating with HR, Finance and external providers.

You will drive improvements, manage the expenses system, and maintain HMRC compliance with a focus on stakeholder collaboration and reporting. Hybrid working and a car allowance are offered along with a bonus in a comprehensive package.

Qualifications

• Proven payroll leadership experience with strong HMRC knowledge.
• CIPP qualification or equivalent preferred.
• Advanced Excel skills including PivotTables and lookup formulas.
• Excellent communication and stakeholder management demonstrated.
• Experience with SQL and Microsoft Query is advantageous.

Job description

Lead the UK payroll function, overseeing three payrolls and managing the UK & Ireland expenses system. You’ll ensure payroll accuracy, HMRC compliance, and the smooth delivery of payroll and benefits while working closely with HR, Finance, Operations, and external providers.

Key responsibilities:

• Lead and develop the payroll team.
• Ensure accurate, compliant payroll processing and P11D submissions.
• Manage the expense system and HMRC compliance.
• Build strong relationships with stakeholders and system providers.
• Deliver payroll reporting, support audits, and drive continuous improvement.

What you’ll bring:

• Proven payroll leadership experience with strong HMRC knowledge.
• CIPP qualification.
• Advanced Excel skills (PivotTables, VLOOKUP/XLOOKUP, formulas).
• Excellent communication, stakeholder management, and team leadership skills.
• Microsoft Query (SQL) experience is an advantage.
