About the Role:
We have a fantastic opportunity for a Payroll Manager to join us to lead our dedicated Payroll team in delivering a seamless, accurate and efficient service. This is a hands-on leadership role, overseeing the end-to-end payroll process and ensuring compliance with all relevant legislation and service level agreements.
You’ll be responsible for ensuring operational excellence across your team, coaching and developing individuals to meet high performance standards while driving client satisfaction and retention. You’ll also work closely with internal stakeholders to improve systems and processes, support change projects, and contribute to the strategic growth of the payroll function.
Key responsibilities include:
Managing the delivery of multiple payrolls accurately and on time.
Leading, mentoring, and supporting the Payroll team.
Ensuring compliance with GDPR, HMRC, and pensions regulations.
Driving continuous improvement in processes and systems.
Acting as the main point of contact for payroll queries and escalations.
Building strong relationships with clients and leading service reviews.
Supporting wider business transformation and project delivery.
About you
About You:
You're an experienced and confident payroll leader who thrives on delivering high-quality service and building strong team cultures. You’ll have:
Proven experience managing a payroll team or function.
Strong knowledge of pensions, auto-enrolment and statutory requirements.
Solid understanding of HRIS platforms and payroll systems.
Excellent communication, customer service and stakeholder management skills.
A proactive, solutions-focused mindset with a keen eye for detail.
The ability to manage competing priorities in a fast-paced environment.
Bonus points if you’ve worked in outsourced payroll or have experience in the education sector.
