Role Overview

We have an exciting opportunity for a Payroll Assistant to join our team within Vistry Services at our West Malling office in Kent. As a Payroll Assistant, you will assist in the accurate and efficient processing of payroll for Vistry Group, which includes approximately 4,500 employees across the UK, in 26 regional locations, over 200 construction sites, and 3 factories manufacturing timber frame housing components.

• Flexible, adaptable, able to work under pressure, handling high volumes and tight deadlines
• Proficient in Outlook, Excel, Word, and a payroll system similar to ResourceLink

More about the Payroll Assistant role…

• Enter new employees into the system, ensure accurate first payday, and verify T&Cs are correctly entered by HR
• Process P45s, ensuring correct tax codes, previous pay, and student loan info
• Ensure auto-enrolment is actioned and issue related documentation
• Check adherence to minimum wage laws for new employees
• Process leavers, ensure final pay is accurate, and produce payslips and P45s
• Manage holiday entitlement and payment accuracy
• Administer benefits or loans correctly for leavers and recover from final pay
• Update ResourceLink with salary changes, promotions, and role updates, auditing T&Cs
• Maintain accurate bonus and life assurance data, recording reasons for changes
• Monitor and input employee-specific variable data such as unpaid leave, overtime, travel allowance, reward payments, absences, and sick pay
• Assist with payroll cutoff, month-end, and tax year-end tasks
• Respond to employee queries regarding PAYE and payroll processes
• Generate PALs for payroll errors, issue notifications, and reconcile advances
• Support team members during absences or project work
• Stay informed of policies affecting payroll output
• Review and suggest improvements to team pages on the intranet and DUG
