Job summary

Hope House Children's Hospices is hiring a Payroll and Finance Officer to manage the full payroll cycle for ~300 staff and support finance tasks such as purchase ledger and payments. The role is based in Oswestry and offered on a full-time, permanent basis.

The successful candidate will be proficient in PAYE/NIC, pensions, and statutory payments, with strong Excel/Office skills and a detail-oriented, collaborative approach.

Hope House Children's Hospices have an opportunity for a Payroll and Finance Officer to join our team based in Oswestry. You will join us on a Full-time 37.5 hours, permanent basis. In return, as Payroll and Finance Officer you will receive a competitive salary of £32,123 - £36,360 per annum (depending on experience).

About the Payroll and Finance Officer role:

The Payroll and Finance Officer is responsible for the full end-to-end payroll cycle for approximately 300 employees, ensuring accurate processing and record keeping, timely payments, and the fulfilment of all policy, procedural, reporting and regulatory requirements.

Additionally, the postholder works with colleagues in the Finance team to ensure effective finance administration and management of the purchase ledger. This includes monitoring the Accounts email inbox, processing payments, bank reconciliation, petty cash management, and reporting.

We are looking for a Payroll and Finance Officer who has:

• Strong payroll experience; understanding of PAYE/NIC, workplace pensions, statutory sick and maternity payments, P11Ds
• Excellent organisational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks and deadlines efficiently
• Knowledge of payroll and accounting software
• An adaptable, detail-oriented approach and an eagerness to contribute to process improvement initiatives
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills
• Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines effectively
• Competent user of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Office
