Job summary

St Helens and Knowsley Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust is seeking a Payroll Specialist to join its busy payroll team in Warrington. This is a permanent, full-time role within a fast-paced, multi-contract environment.

You will manage end-to-end payroll, process starters and leavers, handle payments and deductions, and produce reports for departments. The role offers hybrid working (3 days in office, 2 days at home) and an attractive benefits package.

Qualifications

  • End-to-end payroll processing experience in a fast-paced environment.
  • Experience handling multi-site payroll and complex pay arrangements.
  • Strong knowledge of payroll legislation and pension rules.
  • Proficient in HMRC reporting requirements and benefits in kind.

Responsibilities

  • Process payroll from start to finish across multiple contracts within agreed timescales.
  • Ensure employees are paid accurately and in line with varying pay agreements.
  • Process new starters, leavers and contractual changes.
  • Calculate redundancy, notice and termination payments.
  • Administer statutory and occupational payments including SSP, SMP and SPP.
  • Produce payroll reports for departments across the business.
  • Liaise with HMRC, pension providers and other third parties.
  • Respond to payroll queries in a timely manner.
  • Maintain accurate payroll records and documentation.
  • Keep up to date with payroll legislation and internal processes.
  • Support compliance with payroll policies and procedures.

An established international organisation is looking to appoint a Payroll Specialist to join its busy payroll team. This is a fantastic opportunity for an experienced payroll professional who enjoys working in a fast-paced, high-volume environment and is looking to further develop their career within a supportive team.

Key Responsibilities
  • Process payroll from start to finish across multiple contracts within agreed timescales
  • Ensure employees are paid accurately and in line with varying pay agreements
  • Process new starters, leavers and contractual changes
  • Calculate redundancy, notice and termination payments
  • Administer statutory and occupational payments including SSP, SMP and SPP
  • Produce payroll reports and information for departments across the business

About You
  • Previous payroll experience within a fast-paced, multi-site environment
  • End-to-end payroll processing experience
  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Office
  • Advanced Excel skills
  • Strong understanding of payroll and pension legislation
  • Knowledge of HMRC reporting requirements, including Benefits in Kind
  • Excellent attention to detail and organisational skills
