Job summary

The Mission Group is seeking a Payroll Administrator on a fixed-term contract (FTC) to April 2027. The role is based in Fillegh, North Devon with hybrid working arrangements.

You will manage in-house UK monthly payrolls, ensure HMRC compliance, and handle pension data while liaising with People Operations and resolving payroll discrepancies. We require strong payroll experience, up-to-date knowledge of legislation, and competence in Excel; CIPP qualification is desirable.

  • Experience with UK monthly payrolls and HMRC submissions.
  • Proficient with Excel and data handling.

Responsibilities

  • Prepare input and reconcile employee details with correct PAYE/NIC treatment.
  • Process monthly UK payrolls and payments via BACS.
  • Submit payroll data to HMRC monthly and at year end.
  • Coordinate with People Operations for contract changes and inputs.
  • Investigate and resolve payroll discrepancies.
  • Provide payroll data in Excel format.
  • Upload pension data to providers.
  • Answer payroll and pension queries.

THE ROLE

We’re recruiting for a Payroll Administrator to join the team on a fixed term contract. Reporting into the Payroll Manager, this role requires good technical payroll skills and knowledge of current pay regulations, including HMRC, Pension Regulator and Working Time legislation and guidance. The candidate will be responsible for processing in-house UK monthly payrolls, managing payroll data with HMRC and investigating and resolving payroll discrepancies.

Key Responsibilities:
  • To prepare input and reconcile employee details - starters/ leavers/ changes etc, ensuring correct PAYE/NIC treatment, compliance with internal policies and pension scheme requirements

  • Processing accurate and timely monthly payrolls for payment via BACS

  • Producing and submitting all relevant payroll data to HMRC on a monthly basis and at Year End

  • Partner closely with the People Operations team to ensure all inputs for contractual changes and any variable input are confirmed

  • Identify, investigate and resolves discrepancies in payroll records

  • Provide detailed payroll information in excel format

  • Uploading pension data to various pension providers

  • Answering payroll and pension related queries

ABOUT THE PERSON
  • To have up to date knowledge of legislation in relation to payroll and pensions

  • CIPP Technician or equivalent qualification desirable

  • Excellent payroll experience and knowledge

  • Excellent organisational, communication and interpersonal skills

  • Good working knowledge of Microsoft Outlook, Excel and Word

  • A desire to do the job in a timely and meticulous manner
