Job summary

A leading recruitment agency is seeking a Payroll Administrator to join a busy in-house payroll team in Newcastle. This role involves processing payroll for around 1,200 employees and managing payroll queries. Ideal candidates will have strong attention to detail, previous payroll experience, and proficiency with modern payroll systems.

Qualifications

  • Previous experience in payroll is essential.
  • Proven ability to perform manual payroll calculations.
  • Solid knowledge of Excel including VLOOKUPs required.

Job description

Role: Payroll Administrator
Salary: GBP26,000 - GBP28,000
Location: Newcastle
Working Structure: Office Based
Contract: Permanent

An exciting opportunity has arisen for an experienced Payroll professional to join a busy in-house payroll team, supporting the accurate and timely processing of a large monthly payroll for approximately 8,000 colleagues.

As a key part of the payroll function, you'll be directly responsible for end-to-end processing for around 1,200 employees. This is a great opportunity for a confident and detail-oriented payroller who thrives in a fast-paced environment.

Key Responsibilities
  • Accurately process end-to-end monthly payroll for a designated group of employees
  • Manage and resolve payroll queries, including calculating and issuing manual payments when needed
  • Maintain accurate payroll records in line with statutory requirements
  • Apply a strong understanding of statutory payments including maternity, paternity, and shared parental leave
  • Ensure all payroll activity complies with current legislation and internal policies
What We're Looking For
  • Previous experience working within a payroll team is essential
  • Proven ability to perform manual payroll calculations
  • Excellent communication and problem-solving skills
  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to meet strict deadlines
  • Experience using modern payroll systems such as PeopleXD (Access), SuccessFactors (SAP), Oracle, Dayforce (Ceridian), or Workday
  • Solid working knowledge of Excel, including VLOOKUPs
