Job description

What will you be doing?

As one of our Payroll Administrators, your primary focus will be providing administrative support on our 4-weekly payroll cycle.

As a member of this talented and friendly team, you’ll be involved in a wide range of payroll-related processes that require efficiency and accuracy.

You will adhere to Society policies and statutory legislation, maintaining confidentiality at all times.

This role involves working in partnership with internal colleagues and external providers such as HMRC and DWP.

Our payroll team plays a vital role in delivering a colleague experience aligned with our cultural framework—we are the difference makers.

If you have a colleague-focused mindset, enjoy thinking on your feet, respond positively to challenges, and can work independently, we would love to hear from you!

This is a hybrid role, offering a mix of office and home working.

How will I know if I am right for this role?

This environment is high volume and fast-paced, requiring accuracy and attention to detail.

The ideal candidate will have a colleague-focused mindset, be a true team player, and support wider team activities proactively.

With support and guidance from leadership, you should be willing to learn and develop new skills.

Previous practical payroll experience and supporting in a front-line environment are essential, along with a good understanding of the full payroll cycle.

Excellent customer service skills and the ability to build positive relationships are also important.

You must hold Maths and English GCSEs at Grade C or above (or equivalent).

What is in it for me?

Alongside our competitive salaries, colleagues benefit from:

  • Retail discounts through our hub, offering savings on shopping, days out, and holidays.
  • Holiday buy scheme—purchase up to an extra week of annual leave annually.
  • Colleague recognition programs celebrating achievements.
  • Enhanced family-friendly policies to support significant life events.
  • Colleague Dividend—profit sharing for eligible colleagues.
  • Paid volunteering days—up to three days per year.
  • Give as you earn—charity support options.
  • Healthcare Cashplan to help cover healthcare expenses.
  • Company pension scheme and wellbeing resources.
  • Free life assurance after qualifying period.
  • Accessible training and development programs.
  • Wellbeing initiatives including the iTrent Financial Wellbeing (Wagestream) app.
  • Flexible working options, including 4-day workweeks, 9-day fortnights, and hybrid working.
