Job summary

Winsearch in Stafford is seeking a Payroll Administrator to support accurate payroll processing for staff. This 36-hour per week role runs Monday to Friday with an immediate start on a temporary ongoing basis.

You will process weekly and monthly payrolls, maintain employee payroll records, calculate overtime, bonuses and deductions, and ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and pension auto-enrolment. This position requires attention to detail, strong numerical skills and proficiency with

Qualifications

Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and/or monthly payrolls by deadlines.
  • Maintain and update employee payroll records.
  • Calculate overtime, bonuses, commissions, holiday pay, and deductions.
  • Ensure HMRC regulations compliance.
  • Process starters, leavers, and salary changes.
  • Assist with pension enrolment and auto-enrolment.
  • Respond to payroll queries from staff and managers.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and report to management.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll data.
  • Liaise with HR, Finance, and external providers.

Job Purpose

To support the accurate and timely processing of payroll for employees, ensuring all pay, deductions, and statutory payments are administered correctly and in line with company policies and current legislation.

This is a great opportunity for someone with previous payroll or finance administration experience.

Key Responsibilities

  • Process weekly and/or monthly payrolls accurately and within deadlines.
  • Maintain employee payroll records and ensure all information is up to date.
  • Calculate and process overtime, bonuses, commissions, holiday pay, statutory payments, and deductions.
  • Ensure compliance with HMRC regulations and payroll legislation.
  • Process starters, leavers, and employee changes, including salary amendments and pension enrolments.
  • Assist with pension administration and auto-enrolment requirements.
  • Respond to payroll-related queries from employees and managers in a professional and timely manner.
  • Reconcile payroll reports and identify any discrepancies.
  • Prepare payroll reports for management and finance teams as required.
  • Maintain confidentiality of payroll and employee information at all times.
  • Support payroll audits and provide relevant documentation when requested.
  • Liaise with HR, Finance, and external payroll providers where necessary.

Skills & Experience

Essential:

  • Previous experience in a payroll administration or payroll assistant role.
  • Good understanding of payroll processes and statutory payments.
  • Strong attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Excellent numerical and data entry skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Excel and payroll systems.
  • Strong communication and organisational skills.
  • Ability to manage confidential information with discretion.

Desirable:

  • Payroll or finance-related qualification.
  • Experience using payroll software such as Sage Payroll, Iris, ADP, or similar.
  • Understanding of pensions and auto-enrolment legislation.
