Job summary

Amegreen Children's Services in Mortimer is seeking an organised Payroll and Accounts Assistant to join our Head Office finance team. You will support payroll processing, accounting activities and general financial administration across the organisation.

The role suits someone who enjoys working with numbers, has a keen eye for detail and wants to develop in a busy finance environment, with training and progression opportunities.

Qualifications

• Strong organisational and numerical abilities with attention to detail.
• Good communication and ability to work with colleagues across departments.
• Experience in payroll, accounts or a similar finance role is beneficial.
• Familiarity with Excel, Xero or Sage 50 Payroll is advantageous.

Responsibilities

• Assisting with four-weekly and monthly payroll processing within deadlines.
• Reviewing timesheets and resolving discrepancies with staff.
• Maintaining payroll records including starters, leavers, changes and deductions.
• Handling routine payroll enquiries and escalating complex queries as needed.
• Supporting pensions, salary sacrifice arrangements and benefits administration.
• Assisting with purchase and sales ledgers and invoice processing.
• Supporting bank reconciliations, payroll journals and month-end processes.
• Maintaining accurate financial spreadsheets and documentation across departments.
• Providing admin support to Finance and collaborating with HR and operations teams.
